Future of The Kingdom: Magkabilang Mundo Uncertain Amid Budget Concerns

The much-anticipated alternative historical drama The Kingdom: Magkabilang Mundo is reportedly facing an uncertain future after industry sources claimed that the project has been “shelved” due to financial limitations.

According to insiders, the teleserye would require an estimated ₱200 million production budget, largely because of its ambitious scale, elaborate set designs, and period-fantasy elements. The significant investment has reportedly raised questions about its financial viability.

A story conference for the project was held on January 8 at APT Studios, formerly known as the home of Eat Bulaga!. The event unveiled a powerhouse cast led by Piolo Pascual, Sue Ramirez, Cristine Reyes, Derek Ramsay, and Maja Salvador.

The series was set to be directed by acclaimed filmmaker Mike Tuviera, who earned the Best Director award at the 2024 Metro Manila Film Festival. It was envisioned as a television adaptation of the 2024 MMFF fantasy film The Kingdom, which starred Pascual alongside eight-time Box-Office King Vic Sotto.

Produced by MQuest Ventures and APT Entertainment, the drama was positioned as one of TV5’s flagship primetime offerings for 2026.

Despite its strong initial momentum and star-studded ensemble, uncertainty now surrounds the project. As of press time, TV5 has yet to release an official statement clarifying whether the fantasy drama will move forward or remain indefinitely on hold.

For now, viewers and industry observers are left awaiting confirmation on the fate of what was expected to be one of the network’s most ambitious television ventures.
