The Inspiring Story of Joemar Capinlac

When a classmate once mocked him with the words, “Janitor ka lang, wala kang patutunguhan,” 29-year-old Joemar Capinlac turned that insult into fuel.

To support his studies, Capinlac worked as a janitor while taking up Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in Filipino at the University of the Cordilleras (UC), graduating in 2015. Right after, he started teaching and passed the Licensure Examination for Teachers the same year.

But he didn’t stop there.

While working as a teacher, he earned his Master of Arts in Filipino at Benguet State University (BSU) in 2018, and later pursued a PhD in Filipino, completing it in July 2022.

Today, the former working student holds a Master’s degree, a Doctor of Philosophy, and teaches at Pines City National High School in Baguio City.

Capinlac believes success is built on hard work, preparation, learning from failures, and faith.

“Through hard work I have achieved dreams in life that seemed impossible to me,” he shared via pepdotph.
“But with the help of our Lord, I have reached an unexpected success in life.”

From being told he would amount to nothing, Joemar is now the proof that humility is not a limitation—and success has no shortcuts, only perseverance.
